From Bare Hills to Thriving Groves
In the hills of Kasese, deforestation had left the soil dry and the air dusty. When ERI introduced tree planting and agroforestry, the change was visible within months. Community members received seedlings and training to integrate trees with crops on their farms. Today, the once-bare slopes are turning green. “The shade helps our crops, and we now have firewood without cutting more trees,” said one farmer. What began with just a few seedlings has grown into a community-led movement for restoration.
